Why I don't believe in god. A brief summary.

The world is heading in a dangerous direction and it's because of this pernicious belief in god.
A belief in god shows a dramatic lack of understanding of the real world.
At about the same time that I stopped believing in Santa Claus and the Easter bunny I also stopped believing in god. It was very apparent top me at the age of about 7 that god was not real. I kept believing it however until I was perhaps 13 because it is such an ingrained tradition.
I understand that none of us wants to be alone in our own heads and it’s very comforting to believe that someone is in there with us, but they are not.
I also understand that no of us wants to die and it’s REALLY comforting to believe that we don’t. But that instead we float up to heaven where we sit at god’s side for all eternity.
And I now know that thunder and lightning are not god being angry with us and that the northern lights are not fairies and that a solar eclipse is not gods trick to get our attention.
We have created god for two reasons.
1. It is a way of explaining things we don’t understand. Death, the weather etc.
2. It is a fantastic way for a lot of people to make a living.
God and the devil is a “carrot and stick” designed to make us do what someone else wants us to do and there a lot of people in the world telling us we need to contribute to their church to please god. It is the biggest confidence trick ever.
To believe in god you must pluck out the eyes of reason.
I am a proud member of the reality based community.
I always win every argument about the existence of god and every time my opponents are left with just one pitiful closing volley. Pascal’s wager.
So in summary, the reason I don’t believe in god is because I’m a grown up.

War on Christianity?

Let it be known, I have declared war on Christians and all other religions. Let it be known, I am hostile to Christianity and all other religions. Let it be known. If you believe in all this superstitious rubbish then you are a fool!
The Republicans know they are in serious trouble and stand a very good chance of being trounced in the election this November and so they are now trying to whip up some hysteria amongst their religious base with this "War on Christianity".
The only good thing I have to say about Bush and his evil band of incompetents is that I don’t believe they have a religious bone in their bodies.
They are simply using this god nonsense to attract poor, un-educated believers who don’t know any better.

This facility should be closed down rather that than teach dangerous pseudo science.
I came to America 20 years ago and I can’t believe how stupid this country is becoming!
It’s as though we’re living inside a science fiction movie and the mindless zombie hoards are stumbling around destroying all common sense.
The thing is. It’s not a movie. It’s real. It’s actually happening.
America is going backwards.
Unfortunately for the teachers, at wherever this is, they are on the front line in this struggle and have been thrust into a very unpleasant position.
They need to make a stand. It is too important to simply “grin and bear it”
I realize that it’s easy for me to order others into battle when my livelihood isn’t on the line but I make this prediction.
If those involved make a lot of noise and attract enough national publicity, if they do loose, and their jobs are no longer funded, they will be offered new jobs by others on their side. Others who feel strongly about the alarming direction in which America is heading and are in a position to provide employment to teachers with principles and a deep concern for the future of both their students and America as a whole.
In fact, the call should go out now for someone to step forward and make it clear to these embattled educators that they will be offered new positions should the worst happen.

David Letterman v. Bill O'Reilly

Take a look at this video of O’Reilly on the David Letterman show.
About 2/3 of the way through O’Reilly refers to Britain’s MI6.
The problem for O’Reilly is that he thinks they are called M1-6 (M One 6)
The MI stands for "Military intelligence".
He's confusing Britain’s main freeway (Motorway) the M1 with the countries main intelligence gathering organization.
By the way. This is the definition of a "Freedom Fighter Vs Terrorist"
You are a Terrorist if you target civilians.
You are a Freedom Fighter if your targets are military.
I understand that by saying this I am calling the leaders of my own country, England, terrorists because they carpet bombed Dresden in Germany during WWII but I accept that. At that moment in history it needed to be done.
On the other hand, those who use “IEDs” to destroy military convoys are freedom fighters. I am simply talking semantics here. The people who plant IEDs are still bad people. The use of the term "Freedom Fighter" conjures up a romantic image of an underdog caught in a "David and Goliath" struggle. Not all freedom fighters are fighting for a just cause by any means.
Any act of war that targets civilians is an act of terrorism. However, if civilians are harmed because of their close proximity to a legitimate military target that is an unfortunate consequence of a war zone and not terrorism.
