The God Who Wasn’t There.

This looks interesting:

"Holding modern Christianity up to a bright spotlight, this bold and often hilarious new film asks the questions few dare to ask."

Second Hand Smoke

If this stuff about second hand smoke is true, then there's a lot of people out there who owe me money for cigarettes!

Jack Kevorkian

Jack Kevorkian is undoubtedly a very, very compassionate man.

He seems to believe, as I do, that death is a natural part of life. His compassion has been clearly demonstrated in his attempts to help terminally sick people die on their own terms.
The fact that he was hounded, harassed and finally sent to prison just shows that our society has yet to accept death for what it is. A way of making room for the next crop to come along.

It is a shame though, that physically he looks like the Grim Reaper.

Who leaked the Bush spying story?

The right wing lunatics are now up in arms about who leaked the story to the Washington Post about the Bush government spying on us.
They are pointing to the Valerie Plame incident as inconsistent because there has not been as loud a public outcry over this new leak.

The reason is simple.

The person who leaked the name of Valerie Plame as a CIA operative, did her, her contacts while at the CIA and the country some serious harm.

The person who leaked the story that our government has been spying on us, did the country a great service.

Bush keeps saying that this revelation will harm the effort to fight terrorism. I have news for him. The terrorists already new that we could tap phone calls. They have known it for years. My 8 year old nephew knows it.

We should however, find out who did leak the story so that we can give them a medal.

A look back at 2005 . Terri Schiavo.

It is clear that, if you believe in god, and that he has a plan for us all, then his plan was to call Terri Schiavo home 13 years ago.

But because we have developed such amazing medical techniques she never went. We were able to keep her alive long after she should have joined god.
To see these believers running around fighting to keep Terri Schiavo alive is amazing.
Shouldn’t they have been fighting to have her fulfill gods plan? Can they not see that, according to their own beliefs, she was supposed to die 13 years prior? Or do they not really believe in destiny?

I can only imagine that when poor Terri did finally die she went to heaven, met with god, and boy oh boy was he pissed off!
“Where the hell have you been? I called for you YEARS AGO!!!”

Apologists for the Republicans.

I can’t figure out if the right wing apologists for the Republicans either know the real issue concerning the Bush spying scandal and are purposefully re-directing the discussion or they simply don’t understand the real concern.

It has nothing to do with eavesdropping upon possible terrorists.
WE ALL WANT TO CATCH MANIACS TRYING TO KILL PEOPLE!

What we don’t want is a government using that as a cover for operating outside of the law!

My News Year resolution for 2006.

To convice 5 people this coming year that god is a myth. There is no such place as hell and they no longer need to be scared. That life is wonderful and you can enjoy it all, even the sexual stuff without any guilt.

Morals and the Athiest.

A few days ago, on his syndicated talk radio show, Mitch Albom, during a discussion of the “Afterlife” stated that if people didn’t believe in a life after this one there would be chaos and anarchy in the world (I don’t fully remember his words and so I’m paraphrasing).

As an atheist who firmly believes there is no such thing as an afterlife I take exception to that.

I am not running amok, causing chaos and anarchy. I am one of the most moral and principled people I know.
In fact, my morals and principles mean more than those of someone who believes in god because I’m not doing it just to get into heaven. I'm not franticly trying to "curry favour" with some imaginary being who gets to decide if I should burn in hell or not.
I don’t lie, cheat and steal because I don’t want to lie, cheat and steal. Not because I’m scared of some kind of retribution after I die.

Now please don’t get me wrong. I’m not a goody goody who thinks he’s better than everyone else. (Just better than believers).

I love pervy sex as much as the next man (Just not with the next man)

We believe in heaven because of water.

We have to drink water to stay alive.

It is vital to our existance and so we go to great lenghts to get it.

We (Primitave man) would carry it long distances from lakes and rivers back to our villages.
And we know therefore, how damn heavy it is. We also know that it falls down from the sky and fills all the lakes and rivers.

So knowing how heavy it is and that is is stored up in the sky we can deduce that there must be something up there capable of taking all that weight.

Obviously we (primitave man) know nothing about clouds and water vapor.

Voila! The heaven above us story.

Hobsons Choice

So let me get this straight.

God gave us free will. We can choose to believe in him or not. It's up to us.

But if we choose not to believe in him he sends us to hell to burn for eternity.

That is what is called a Hobsons choice. Something that is not a choice at all.

God can go to hell, I'm not playing that game!

Catholicism.

I don't want to be a member of any club that has a half naked man nailed to a piece of wood as it's logo.

That's just sick!

Earth is one HUGE Killing field.

Lets pretend that I'm god.

I have a blank slate and I want to create a world.

I'm omnipotent and so I can create whatever I want, however I want.

I choose a system that is based on eating. Everything has to eat in order to survive.

I then make it so that every living thing on the entire planet is also made of food.

I create an enormous killing field where everything is killing and eating everything else, often in horrendous and terrifying ways. Some creatures eat other creatures alive. Some wrap others in cocoons and inject them with a poision that melts them so that they can then be drunk. One animal keeps it's prey in captivity and then kills and cooks it over fire. Often in the company of friends while laughing and drinking.

I gotta say. If you can create anything that you want then that's a pretty sick system to come up with.

ID. The work of space aliens maybe?

So let me get this straight.
Is it possible that the designer in Intelligent Design could be space aliens?

Santa and god is the same story.

We tell children that if they’re good all year and do as their told, at the end of the year Santa comes down from the sky and gives them fantastic gifts. But if they are bad however, Santa will punish them and give them a lump of coal.

We know that this is not true but if it helps toward making children do as their told we are happy to lie.

As adults we are told that if we are good all our lives, at the end of our life we will go up to heaven and god will reward us with the gift of everlasting life. But if we are bad however we will burn in hell (The coal thing).

IT'S THE SAME STUPID STORY!

Why do we know it’s a pack of lies when we tell it to children but we believe it when it’s told to us?

Democrats should demand a written letter from this government guaranteeing that their privacy was not compromised.

In light of the recent revelations concerning the Bush administration having have spied on US citizens I would suggest that the concern is not whether this government spied on suspected terrorists but that, once it stepped outside the constraints of the law, and the correct legal safeguards were no longer in effect, did they spy on anyone else? Their political opponents, for example.
Once a government has been caught breaking the law it no longer enjoys the "benefit of the doubt" and has created a new, much lower, threshold of integrity for themselves.
Their argued reason for breaking the law is irrelevant. We all want to catch terrorists and we want to catch them quickly, and the current legal requirements allow for that.

I would humbly recommend that all the Democratic candidates from the last general election (2004) demand a written letter from this government guaranteeing that their privacy was in no way compromised as happened under the Nixon administration.

Intelligent Design Banned in PA

Phew! That was close.
Thankfully Judge John E. Jones III saw Intelligent Design for what it is, a backdoor way of promoting creation.

If the judge had ruled the other way I have no doubt that the schools in Dover Pennsylvania would soon start teaching the "Stork theory of child birth", "Easter Bunny 101" and "The Tooth Fairy Vs your dentist"

America should be more worried over the fact that their schools are not educating kids and Americans are becoming dumber. Although thinking about it an uneducated population is exactly what politicians want.

By the way. I have won and always will win every discussion I get involved in concerning theology.
That's not really a difficult task though considering the premise that "god exists" is such a ridiculous proposition that it's like shooting fish in a barrel.

Carrot and Stick

Don't believe anyone who tells you that if you don't behave a certain way you'll burn in Hell or at the very least not get into Heaven.

There is no Heaven and there is no Hell.

They are simply carrots and sticks that are used to:

1) Scare you into behaving how someone else wants you to behave.

2) Scare you into supporting their lifestyle by giving to their church.

Religion is the greatest Con Trick ever invented.

Americas Chain of Command

This is how the chain of command seems to be working in America these days.

Haliburton - Chaney - Rove - Bush - Us

Haliburton decides what it wants next.
They tell Dick Chaney.
He calls in Karl Rove and discusses it with him.
Karl Rove then puts his evil genius to work and comes up with a plan.
Karl Rove calls in George W Bush and sits him down.
George W Bush then tells us (Through the worlds number one hatemonger Rush Limbaugh)

Wake up America!

You're being played!!

P.S. I haven't always been this militant. Just since these terrible people have been running America.

WARNING: Very low brow humor!

Farting Preacher.
This is in extremely bad taste and the only reason I’ve posted a link to it now is because my mother died a few years ago and so I don’t have to worry about making her feel ashamed of me anymore.
These are superb examples of audio editing however!
(Thanks to Google Video Of The Day, for posting this).

Farting preacher Two (5)

Dark Sided
This next clip is rather scary. I never saw this episode when it aired on the Fox TV show "Traiding Spouses" but this crazy christian freak was on. It seems the family she got traded with were of the Dark Side. At first, this seems kind of funny, but watch how she emotionally and psychologically abuses her children.
(Thanks to Google Video Of The Day, for posting this).

How to counter Intelligent Design.

The argument for Intelligent Design is that there are some things in the world that are so complex they must (MUST) have beed designed by a creator. There is no way that the eye, for instance, can possibly have evolved it is far too complicated.

Point 1)
Since the dawn of mankind, whenever we have not been able to understand something we have always thrown up our trembling hands and shrieked "It must be gods work"
We should be beyond that by now. We used to think that the Sun was a god. We now know that it's not. We used to think that thunder was the gods being angry at us. We now know that thunder is atmospheric electricity.

We need to stop using this childish answer of "It must be god" to explain everything that we don't yet fully understand.

Point 2)
If the ID people claim that only way there can be things as complex as eyes and bacteria in the world is if they were created by something, then the absolute logical next step is to point out that the "something" that did the creating is even more complex and, so using their same argument, the only possibly way that can be is if it too was created by something else, which in turn must have been even more complex and therefore had to have been created by something else . . . . . and so on.

Point 3)
If you're at a dinner party and the person across from you starts a converstaion about Intelligent Design and wants to convince you that it's real, the most effictive way to deal with the situation is to roll your eyes, shake your head and ask them in a loud voice "How old are you?"

If it turns out that they actually are a 5 year old then pat them kindly on the head and tell them "Santa Claus is a crock, also . . . . . sorry."

I used to be a Republican.

It's true. I did.
But after I saw how they went after Clinton for having sex I knew that these were not the people for me.

Compassionate Conservatism.

The Republicans often talk about "Compassionate Conservatism” but I think that they are getting “Compassion” and “Compression” mixed up.
Compression is when you squeeze something, often until it breaks.

Whose Only Care in the World.

If I was a selfish, self-centered, warmongering religious zealot with not a single thought of my own, someone whose only care in the world was my own well being then of course I too would vote Republican.

Hatemonger.

It's such a terrible shame that the most powerful man in America, Rush Limbaugh, is a hatemonger! Why couldn't he have been something less destructive like a finish carpenter or a green grocer?

Thank god I'm an Athiest!

I used to love living in America. That was until I came to realize how many grown-ups here believe in the Wizard of god. I can understand children of 5 or 6 who still believe in Santa Claus believing in god but not adults!
Every day I thank the lord that I'm an Athiest.
