The terrorists are "fundraising".

Let me explain something about terrorists.

The main job of a terrorist leader such as BinLaden is the exact same job as a politician in America.

Fundraising.

Without money they are both dead in the water.

To fundraise, therefore, both groups use whatever power they have. Politicians, it seems, have a friendly “scratch my back” policy because their power is in drafting legislation.

Terrorists, however, have bombs.

If it seems strange to you that places such as seaside resorts in Egypt and Indonesia are terrorist targets when there are other softer and more political targets easily available, this is the reason.

The terrorists are fundraising.
They know the devastating effect that a bomb blast will have on the economy of a holiday resort and so they explode a few at the beginning of the tourist season. This immediately terrifies the owners of other such locations in the region and causes them to do whatever it takes to protect their livelihoods.

They will then pay “under the counter” for protection and you can bet that hotel owners all around the Red sea are now scrambling to "cough up some wedge".

The same thing took place in Ireland for years. People would go to the business owners in the area and ask for financial help in the “struggle” or the "cause". If a business owner didn’t pay, his location would be destroyed in a “terrorist bombing”. This made sure that all the other business owners would then pay up.

It’s a simple protection racket and, because it’s how these people earn their living, it’s not going to stop. The terrorists would be very reluctant to give up a career that affords them a superb income, relaxed hours, power and notoriety in favour of a 9-5 down at the docks.

I also believe that this is the main reason why we haven’t had any terrorist incidents within America since 911. The terrorist thugs know that it would be much harder to extort money from American business owners because they are hardly going to hand over cash to “support the terrorist cause” the way Middle Eastern business owners will.

Would someone please forward this to the Whitehouse because the Bush people don't understand that terrorists are simply gangsters selling protection.
They use the guise of a political struggle to raise funds.
They therefore have no interest in the struggle going away.
And it's hard to fight gangsters with armies.
